Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport, located on a peninsula that just out into the largest fresh-water lake in Africa (Lake Victoria), where our driver-guide will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Today, our driver guide will pick you from your hotel in Entebbe and drive you straight to Kibale National Park via the beautiful scenery of Mubende and Fort Portal. This is a 5-6 hour drive will also take us through spectacular views of tea plantations and local home and some forestry. You will have a stopover in Fort portal town for a hot lunch and then proceed to the lodge in Kibale Forest National Park where we will spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Day 3: Chimp Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

After your breakfast, your driver-guide will drive you to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters at Kanyanchu for a briefing before you commence your chimpanzee trekking. This park is reputed for having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. On the guided nature walk, you are in search for Chimpanzees, Red-tailed monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, and many others. Once you locate the Chimpanzees, you will spend a full hour with them at close quarters. After the mandatory 1 hour is finished, your guides/rangers will lead you back to the park headquarters. Once back at the lodge, you will have the rest of the day to yourselves to relax and look back on your exhilarating experience encountering the chimpanzees through the lens of your camera. Later in the afternoon, you can visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary — an exciting experience and overnight stay at your Lodge.

Day 4:  Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will take a road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Kamwenge, Ibanda, Mbarara and Kabale towns. You will arrive later in the afternoon where you will spend the rest of the day relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s activity, the highlight of the tour. Alternatively, you can choose to do one of the optional activities below;

  • Nature walk and Batwa Cultural Trail Experience at USD $40 per person
  • Nature walk to the waterfall inside the park at USD $80 per person
  • Nature walk to the waterfall outside the park at USD $40 per person
  • Dinner and overnight at our lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will carry your packed lunch and be at the park ranger station by 7.30am for registration and briefing and start the Gorilla trekking experience at around 8:00am. This remarkable experience of searching for the famous Mountain Gorillas is strenuous thus requires one to be physically fit, however, the thrill of encountering these humble and gentle giants erases the poor memories you went through while finding them. The trekking takes 2-9 hours depending on the movement of the Gorillas in the jungle and you will spend one hour with them as you take photos and learn about their behaviors. After the trekking, we will return to the lodge where will spend the rest of the day relaxing or go for community experience among the pygmies. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Rwanda

After breakfast, you will embark on the journey to Volcanoes check out of the lodge and head to Kigali City for sightseeing with visits to a local market as well as other monuments in the city. During the city tour, we will also get to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial which is such an emotional and touching experience. We will then have lunch and then embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park arriving at the lodge later in the evening.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and then later you will enter the rainforest and along the montane slopes of Virunga. This remarkable experience of searching for the famous Mountain Gorillas is strenuous thus requires one to be physically fit, however, the thrill of encountering these humble and gentle giants erases the poor memories you went through while finding them. You will spend one hour with them as you take photos and learn about their behaviors. Depending on how long it takes to track the gorillas you will be either back at the lodge for a late lunch or dinner and then spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 8: Golden Monkey Tracking/To Lake Kivu

Today you will be taken from one side of the national park to another, here you will be taken on a guided walk into the thick bamboo thickets in search of the one of the rarest and most beautiful of all African primates with black limbs, tail tips and crown. Volcanoes National Park has a Golden Monkey population of around 200 individuals that has been studied and habituated since 2002. After tracking, we will embark on the journey to the beautiful Lake Kivu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: To Nyungwe Forest National Park (Rwanda)

This morning you will leave Volcanoes National Park for Nyungwe Forest National Park with a stop for lunch in Butare where there is a very nice museum to check out. After lunch you will continue with the journey to Nyungwe forest arriving later in the afternoon. As you drive through the park, you should be able to see some beautiful Angolan colobus monkeys. Day 10: Chimp Tracking and Canopy Walk

Today you will once again enter the rainforest, an exceptional place for primates and boasting 13 species (20% of Africa’s total). This morning you will track down a troop of chimpanzees to learn more about the behaviors. In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk through this beautiful rain forest. Here, you will have a chance of spotting some of the other primate species, birds and mammals that inhabit the forest. This forest is home to about 275 species of birds of which an impressive 25 are endemic, 270 species of trees and shrubs, 100 different orchids and many large mammals such elephants, leopards, servals, golden cats, bush pigs and black-fronted duiker. There are loads of walking tracks in the park and the experienced guides will show you the best ones for particular wildlife. Thereafter, we will bring you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: To Kigali/Departure (Home)

This morning you will be taken to Kigali, where you will be transferred to the airport in time to catch your return flight back home.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Today, we will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and depart at leisure to Akagera National Park, the only savannah park in Rwanda located in the North East. Upon arrival, you will have lunch and then in the afternoon head to this beautiful park for a game drive in search of the wildlife in the park.

Day 3: In Akagera National Park

After an early morning breakfast, we will head to the park for a game drive to see the wildlife in the plains of the park such as Rhinos, Elephants, Oribi, Gazelles, African Buffalo among others and you will have chances of sighting predators like Lions and Leopards. Thereafter, we will return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. Later in the afternoon we will head back to the park for a boat ride on Lake Ihema where we will spot different species of birdlife as well as animals like Hippos and crocodiles.

Day 4: To Kigali

Today, we will have breakfast and then return to Kigali City for sightseeing with visits to a local market (Kimironko, the oldest market in Rwanda) as well as other monuments in the city. During the city tour, we will also get to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial which is such an emotional and touching experience. Later, we will bring you to the hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: To Nyungwe Forest National Park

This morning you will leave Kigali City for Nyungwe Forest National Park in the South West of Rwanda with a stop for lunch on the way. After lunch you will continue with the journey to Nyungwe forest arriving later in the afternoon. The forest is home to 13 species of primate so as you drive through the park, you should be able to see some of them especially the beautiful Angolan colobus monkeys. Your evening meal will be at your accommodation.

Today after a late breakfast, you will leave Nyungwe Forest National Park for the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu, the largest lake in Rwanda arriving in time for lunch. You will then spend the day relaxing at your accommodation.

Day 8: Volcanoes National Park

This morning, you will start with a boat ride on Lake Kivu as we explore the small islands on the lake and also get to spot the different bird species commonly seen here. You will then have lunch and thereafter transfer to picturesque Volcanoes National Park, home to the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda.

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Kampala at 7:00 am. En route, you will stop at Mpambire Drum Makers Center to see how traditional African drums are crafted. Another stop will be at the Equator for a photo session and to witness water experiments demonstrating the Earth’s hemispheres.

Upon arrival at Lake Mburo National Park, you will check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, embark on a thrilling game drive, where you will spot zebras, impalas, buffaloes, warthogs, and possibly leopards. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Community Walk in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Accompanied by an expert guide, you will venture into the dense forest in search of mountain gorillas. Trekking can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you will have one magical hour observing and photographing these gentle giants.

After lunch, embark on a community walk to visit the Batwa pygmies, where you will learn about their traditional hunting and herbal medicine practices.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Keep your camera ready for this rare wildlife sighting.

Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and relax. You may choose an optional evening game drive.

Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
