One of Uganda’s oldest and largest conservation areas, Murchison Falls National Park is famous for the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the mighty Nile River explodes through a narrow gorge, creating a thunderous 40-meter drop. The sheer power of the falls is a sight to behold and a highlight of any visit. Surrounding the falls, the park’s diverse ecosystems support an incredible variety of wildlife, including giraffes, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and countless bird species like the rare shoebill stork. A Nile River cruise offers a different perspective of the park, where you can observe aquatic life, including hippos and crocodiles, while marveling at the surrounding wildlife from the water. Murchison Falls is also home to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where visitors can track the endangered rhino on foot as part of ongoing conservation efforts.
