Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is Uganda’s smallest national park but holds immense significance as one of the few places in the world where you can track endangered mountain gorillas. Located in the southwestern part of the country, Mgahinga is part of the Virunga Mountain Range, offering stunning views of volcanoes and lush forests. Beyond gorilla trekking, the park is also home to golden monkeys, a rare and playful species found in the bamboo forests. Adventure seekers can hike the majestic Mount Muhabura, one of the park’s three extinct volcanoes, for panoramic views over Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rich in both wildlife and culture, Mgahinga is also home to the Batwa pygmies, one of Africa’s oldest indigenous tribes, offering unique cultural experiences.
